Introduction: Billy Edwall attended San Diego State University where he received an undergraduate degree in Trumpet Performance, and a master’s degree in Jazz Studies. He studied the trumpet with John Wilds, the physical processes of the body in making music with Daniel Durand, and big band jazz with Bill Yeager.  One of Billy’s biggest musical influences is Bill Chase. Billy has had the opportunity of playing lead trumpet for many different types of performances around San Diego and LA, including the world famous San Diego Zoo Chameleons Brass Band and Jingle Brass, the Sea World Sea Street Band and Christmas Brass, the Top Shelf Brass Band, the BOOMF! Brass Band, the Gaslamp Quarter Jazz Orchestra, a number of musical theatres, such as San Diego Musical Theatre, his own dixieland band, Dapper Dixie, the Manny Cepeda Orchestra, military functions, and weddings, among other miscellaneous corporate events. Billy can be seen at the San Diego Zoo any day during the summer as he performs 80 days in a row, 7 days a week, as the lead trumpet for the Chameleons.
